User Tasks Overview
Once Revolution is setup and configured, user tasks are dependent on the user role assigned.
- Editors and Senders can customize their dashboard; Viewers cannot.
- Editors can create/edit/send/delete notifications, create/edit/delete/pause calendar events.
- Senders can send existing notifications.
- Everyone can view sent notification statuses from their dashboard or from the Sent Notifications page.
- Everyone can view calendar events from their dashboard or from the Scheduler.
- Everyone has access to their Desktop Notification Client.
Your Revolution administration determines what your user role is. Additionally, if your organization has multiple sites set up, your admin determines which notifications, endpoints, and calendars you have access to. You may only have access to your site, or you may have access to notifications, endpoints, and calendars for all sites.
Here's an overview of your tasks:
The Dashboard is your daily point of entry to the application. It's linked to your user account, so that you can customize it to assign important and frequently used notifications so they're quickly available to you.
Note: Users assigned the Viewer User Role cannot customize their Dashboard. Only the Scheduled Notifications calendar and Recently Sent Notifications are displayed for this user role.
The Dashboard lets all users view calendar events and check sent notification statuses.
We recommend everyone review the
- Notification Basics topic for an understanding of the different types of notifications and how to use them.
- Manage Notifications topic to learn how to navigate the system.
Your user role dictates what you can and can't do in Revolution. Click your user role to see what functions you can do.
How do I send notifications...
- from my dashboard
- by dialing a number on a phone
- to the Mitel Revolution Mobile Application Mobile app
- from the Mitel Revolution Mobile Application Mobile app
- to my coworkers' desktops
- automatically according to a calendar scheduled event
- to people's email addresses
- as SMS text messages
This user role can send notifications and check their status. You cannot create notifications. Review the Sending Notification topic.
On your Dashboard, you can see the status of the last notification sent. Clicking View Details opens the Sent Notification Details page where you can view information about where the notification was sent, which endpoints received the notification and which ones didn't, any responses to the notification (if this optional feature was included in the notification). You can also resend the notification from here.
You can also go to Notifications > Sent to view details about notifications sent. This page provides a bit more information than just the Sent Notification Details page, including who notifications were sent by, how many endpoints the notification was sent to, and so on.
These are notifications triggered by calendar events. Your Dashboard provides a summary of the week's scheduled events, or you can click View All Events to open the Calendars. Editors can create and manage calendars and events.
Your company may have installed Desktop Notification Client (DNC) on your desktop so you can receive notifications there. The DNC automatically loads when your computer is started or restarted. Then the DNC automatically opens and displays notifications that include your DNC as an endpoint. Read the Desktop Notification Client topic to learn how the DNC works. The DNC works the same for all users regardless of user role.
Your system admin determines what user role is assigned to your Revolution user account and sets an initial password. Once you've logged in, you can change your password. All users are automatically logged out of the system after 15 minutes of inactivity.
If you have forgotten your username or password, contact your admin.
