Sending Notifications
You can send notifications using the following methods:
- from your dashboard
- from the Manage Notifications page
- by dialing a line number on a phone
- from within the Revolution Mobile app
- from within the Revolution Desktop Client
- automatically by the Scheduler
When you send notifications through the Revolution web interface, you can also send location information.
Your browser will request permission to send this information and you can allow or deny this functionality as defined by your browser.
-
If you do not respond to the prompt within 30 seconds, the notification will be sent without attempting to retrieve the location information.
-
If you deny or cancel the prompt, the notification will be activated immediately without attempting to retrieve the location information.
-
If you accept the prompt, the notification will be activated immediately and will attempt to retrieve the location information.
Depending on your browser functionality and your selection, it may remember your settings. If not, it will request permission again on your next activation. If you reset your browser location settings, Revolution will request permission again.
Your Revolution administrator may have created the notification to use the location information within the title and body of the notification, allowing the recipients to respond more appropriately.
The following notification types can only be triggered by dialing a line number on a phone.
- Live Broadcast/Paging – This notification type allows you to make a live announcement (aka paging) to the assigned recipients. Dial the line number and begin speaking.
- Recorded – This notification type allows you to record your content and send the audio with the notification. Dial the line number and follow the instructions.
- Intercom – This notification type allows you to use two endpoints as an intercom. For Two-Way notification types, dial the line number. Enter the extension number or destination code followed by the # sign. An opening tone plays (if assigned to the notification), then you can begin speaking.
- Answer – This notification type calls multiple endpoints and waits for someone to answer. Dial the line number and wait for an answer. Once someone presses Answer, the other endpoints are dropped.
- Conference – This notification sets up a conference call between predefined endpoints. Dial the line number and wait for people to press Join to enter the conference.
Tip: Your admin needs to provide you with the destination code to use.
Tip: Once you're used to the workflow, you can press # any time after the instructions begin to skip them.
There is a second Intercom Notification type, Direct Two-Way, that is not triggered with a line number. Direct two-way is triggered by pressing the button on the speaker assigned to the notification, waiting for the opening tone to play (if assigned), and then speaking. The person on the other end presses the button on the speaker and talks back.
Tip: The Manage Notifications page provides a list of notifications along with the type of notification.
