2021.3 Release Notes
GUI Redesign
-
The Revolution GUI has a redesigned Configuration menu and is now organized by function, which allows you to more easily find settings and configuration options.
Notifications
Send data to 9-1-1 operator applications
-
You can now send information to some 9-1-1 operator applications with your notifications. This includes information about the notification trigger, NENA-formatted addresses, and title and body information of the notification message. See Integration with 9-1-1 applications.
Queuing Notifications
-
When creating notifications, you can set them to allow for queuing. This will queue up any notifications that conflict with other notifications of equal or higher priority. Upon completion of the other notification, the queued notification will be sent. See Queuing Notifications.
Sent Notifications
-
Revolution now saves information about Sent Notifications to a log file on the Revolution server. You can find the file at <install_directory>/Logs/SentNotifications.txt.
Special Characters
-
Revolution updated the rules for special characters in the following fields when creating a notification:
-
Notification Name: You cannot use dollar sign ($), ampersand (&), pound (#), question mark (?), or open- and close-quotes ().
-
Message Title: You cannot use ampersand (&), less- or greater-than ( < > ), or double-quote (").
-
Message Body: There are no character restrictions.
-
Other Features
Dynamic Tags
-
When creating Dynamic Endpoint and Dynamic Contact Tags you are now limited to 10 condition criteria. See Creating and Using Dynamic Tags.
Public Alert Services
-
Revolution now stores a database of FIPS codes on its server and checks daily for an update version from our cloud servers. See National Weather Service Alerts, AMBER Alerts, or IPAWS Alerts.
Endpoints
-
You can now reboot an IP Device from the Endpoints page by right-clicking on the device and selecting Reboot. See Reboot IP Devices.
Media
-
You can now review and replace System Media files included with Revolution. These are the audio files that relate to live audio notifications. You can interact with these files in the Configuration > Media page, System Media tab. See System Media.
Outgoing Webhook
-
You can now include CallerID and Location text variables when creating Outgoing Webhooks. See Webhook Notifier.
Status Trigger
-
The interface for creating triggers that monitor the status of Revolution has been redesigned. You can now create more detailed filters for each trigger, allowing you to more easily send notifications about events related to endpoints, licenses, modules, or your redundancy setup. See Status Alerts.
Emergency Priority Threshold
-
Revolution now controls the emergency priority threshold in the global settings, instead of at the module level. You set this value in Global Settings > Notification > Emergency Priority Threshold, where the default is still 8, and any priorities above this value are considered emergency priorities. This replaces the following settings:
-
Cisco Module Setting – Call Interrupt Priority Threshold.
-
Mitel Module Setting – Call Interrupt Priority Threshold.
-
Desktop Module Setting – Priority Threshold.
-
Email Module (SMTP Server Settings) – High Priority Threshold.
See Emergency Alert.
The Priority slider, seen when creating a Notification, reflects your setting and changes to red when it exceeds the Emergency Priority Threshold.
-
Poly Phones
-
Notifications sent to Poly CCX 500 and 600 and VVX 1500 phones display improved text and response buttons.
User and Contact Import
-
Importing contacts and users from Active Directory now supports secure LDAP. Enable the Use SSL field when creating the import rules. See Import from Active Directory (contacts) and Import user accounts from Active Directory
Google Single Sign-On
-
You can now enable support for Google SSO in the Global Settings > Authentication tab, which allows users to log into Revolution with a Google account instead of creating a separate Revolution login. See Google Single Sign-On.
Yealink Phones
-
You can now configure Yealink phones to support receiving text and images from Revolution notifications. See Yealink Configuration.
GUI
-
You can now collapse action tables in Configuration pages, such as Configuration > Phone Systems > SIP, to more easily navigate the pages.
-
Some pages now contain a question mark (?) icon in the upper-right corner. This will link you to the documentation topic for that page.
