Installing Revolution
Before You Begin
- Review System Requirements to make sure you meet all the network, hardware, and software requirements.
- Do you have DHCP option 72 configured?
- Do you have multicast configured?
- Your Windows Server must be up to date. If you are using an evaluation license, you will need to upgrade to a full license. See Upgrade to a production license after eval period.
- Installation must be on a local server and run as an administrator.
- We recommend you install Revolution on its own server. Specifically, do not install Revolution on mission-critical systems, such as those containing a domain controller, Exchange server, or PBX server. If you install Revolution on a server where other programs reside, there may be port, IIS, security policy, or SQL configuration conflicts.
- In order for SQL to install properly, the user account running the installation must have the following permissions:
- Backup files and directories : SeBackupPrivilege
- Debug Programs: SeDebugPrivilege
- Manage auditing and security log: SeSecurityPrivilege
- We recommend disabling virus scanners during the installation. Re-enable them when the install is done.
- The Revolution installer uses a FIPS-compliant cryptography library to support servers configured to run in a FIPS mode of operation.
- If you are installing the product on a virtual appliance, we recommend the following when joining the Windows Server to a domain or installing secondary software such as anti-virus software:
- Wait until after the Revolution software has been configured and tested before joining the server or installing secondary software.
- Backup the OS prior to joining the server or installing secondary software.
- You will need to reboot the server after installation. And you will need to reboot speakers on the network that you want to register with Revolution after the installation.
-
