Paging Relay Static IP Setup
If you are not using a DHCP server, or you have a DHCP server but are required to use a static IP address, then you must manually configure the device. (If you do have access to DHCP option 72, go to the Paging Relays topic.)
Important: Static IP setup should be performed by your network administrator.
The basic steps are:
Configure your network to recognize the Paging Relay device
Once your Paging Relay is connected to the switch port using a standard Ethernet cable, follow these steps so your network will recognize the device:
- Plug computer with NIC into the same switch as the Paging Relay.
- Log in to the computer.
- Launch a command prompt.
- Enter ipconfig /all.
- Write down all the information for the primary NIC.
- Navigate to the Properties of the computer’s NIC.
- Double-click on TCP/IPv4.
- Enter the information gathered from the command prompt as a static address.
- Click Advanced.
- Enter a secondary IP address in the Paging Relay's range, for example: 10.10.10.25 with a subnet mask of 255.0.0.0.
- Click OK until all windows are closed and you are back to the desktop.
Configure the Paging Relay with static IP addresses
- Enter the Paging Relay default IP address 10.10.10.10 in a web browser on your network to open the Paging Relay interface in a web browser on your network.
- Log in using the default username=admin / password=admin.
- Click Networking.
- Click the Static radio button.
- Enter a unique IP Address for the Paging Relay.
- Populate remaining fields.
- Click the Device Config tab.
- Enter the Revolution IP address.
- Click Save, and then click Reboot.
In Revolution, go to Configuration > Other Devices > IP Device. You should see the Paging Relay listed.
