Media

OneAlert comes installed with a wide range of image and audio files you can assign to notifications. You can also upload image and audio files of your own. Access this page by going to Configuration > Media.

Note: Only All Sites Admins have full access to configuration.

Your files are limited to the following requirements:

  • File size – Must not exceed 100MB
  • Image file – Supported formats: SVG, BMP, JPG, and PNG. SVG is recommended for scalability.

    • For full-screen images, which combine images and text and are meant to display as the total message content, you must leave the body text of your notification completely blank.

Note: Cisco DX-650 phone model does not support full-screen image display.

  • Audio file – Supported formats: WAV (all versions), MP3, and MP4. For longer audio files, consider MP3, as they are compressed to a smaller size.

Tip: Review Audio Recordings Best Practices if you plan to record your own audio files for upload.

Use this procedure to upload the files

  1. Select Upload.

  2. Provide a Name for the file. This is what is displayed throughout the interface. If you do not specify a name, it will auto-populate with the filename of the uploaded file.

  3. Select Choose File to select the file through directory navigation.
  4. Select Save.

Replace your audio and image files when you need to update their content or appearance.

OneAlert will use the new file in place of the replaced file without having to update any of your notifications.

  1. Select the Edit icon (Edit icon) for the media file you want to replace.

  2. Select Replace.

  3. (Optional) Change the Name, if necessary.

  4. Select Choose File and navigate to the location of the new file.

You will only be able to replace a file with one of an equivalent media type. For example, you can replace a JPG with a BMP, but not an MP3.

  5. Select Save.

  1. Log on to yourOneAlert server.

  2. Navigate to either:

    C:/Program Files (x86)/Syn-Apps/SAAnnounceRevolution/Sounds

    C:/Program Files (x86)/Syn-Apps/SAAnnounceRevolution/Images

  3. Copy your media files into or delete them from these directories.
  4. RestartOneAlert .

If you would like to create your notification text such that it matches the pre-installed audio, refer to the following table, which contains the text used for the recordings.

  • All messages have an option of a male or female voice. The file names are prepended with MV or FV for identification.

  • All files are provided in MP3 or WAV format in the server's directory structure:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Syn-Apps\SAAnnounceRevolution\Sounds

  • Rename the file by editing the string in the Name field.

  • Play the audio. The file will play to completion.

  • Download the file. From the resulting page, select the ellipses icon to download the file.

  • Restore a default file. If you have uploaded your own file, you can revert back to the default file with the Restore button.

You can record your own audio files to replace the default ones, as long as you use this formatting.

  • File Format – WAV

  • Codec – PCM MU-LAW (μ-law)

  • Type – Audio

  • Channels – Mono

  • Sample rate – 8000 Hz

  • Bits per sample – 8

You could use a program like Audacity to create audio files with the correct formatting.

We recommend reviewing the Audio Recordings Best Practices topic before recording your own files to upload.
