Decommissioned Hardware
When you decommission hardware, there are multiple steps to fully removing the device and its triggers and endpoints.
Before you delete any instances of hardware from Revolution, first make sure that doing so will not leave a notification stranded with either no trigger or no endpoint.
- If the device has GPI and can be used as a trigger, go to the IP Device page to see which notifications are assigned. Then go to Manage Notifications to update the notification triggers as necessary. For example, I had to replace one of my warehouse talk-back IP speakers. Before I delete it from the IP Device page, I'll note which notifications it was assigned to, and edit those notifications to delete the old speaker as a trigger and add the newly installed talk-back IP speaker as a trigger. (I could leave the old speaker as a trigger. It will be automatically removed when I delete it from the IP Device page. However, I'm already editing the notification, so I might as well delete it now.)
- If the device is included in a user tag, the endpoint is automatically removed from the tag when you delete it from the Endpoints page. You don't need to update the notifications that have the tag assigned.
- If the device is directly assigned to a notification as an endpoint, for example if it's not assigned to a tag that's assigned to a notification, then go to the Endpoints page and click View Tags for each notification to see which ones have the device assigned as an endpoint so you can edit those notifications. (For example, a Paging Relay Line Out or Relay endpoints may not be part of user tags. They may be assigned individually as endpoints.)

Once the device is physically removed from the network:
Device | Decommission Actions |
---|---|
Cisco phones |
Remove from CUCM and manually delete from Revolution Endpoints page. |
Mitel phones | Remove from your Mitel communications manager and delete from Revolution Endpoints page. |
Avaya phones | Remove the registration URL from Avaya IP Office or Aura and wait for the endpoints to show as inactive. Manually delete from Revolution Endpoints page. |
IP speakers | Delete device from Revolution IP Device page. Automatically removed from Endpoints page. |
Honeywell X-618 DCS | Delete device from X-618 page. Automatically removed from Endpoints page. |
Paging Relay |
Delete device from Revolution IP Device page. They will automatically be removed from the Endpoints and IP Device. |
Once an endpoint is removed, if it was assigned to notifications, it's automatically removed from those notifications.
Note: For Honeywell X-618 devices, all channels for the removed device are also automatically removed from notifications. For Paging Relay devices, all Line Out and Relay endpoints are automatically removed from notifications, and any Paging Relay triggers for the decommissioned device are also removed.
This applies to decommissioned devices that require manual deletion as indicated in the table above.
- Once a device is totally removed, wait for the Revolution system heartbeat (minimum 3 minutes) so the endpoint registers as inactive.
- Go to Configuration > Endpoints.
- Click Filter and type inactive in the search field.
- Click and select Bulk Delete
- Do one of the following:
- Select the header check box to select all endpoints in the filter results.
- Select the check box of individual endpoints.
- At the top of the page, in Bulk Delete, select Delete Selected.
